Our law firm is dedicated to assisting our clients and serving their legal needs.  After an initial consultation, our knowledge and experience allow us to understand your legal issues and provide you with sound legal advice and effective representation.

Our office is conveniently located in Westminster, just blocks from the Court House in Carroll County.  Let us utilize our extensive knowledge of the court system to provide you with effective representation. We are Carroll County lawyers. We live and work in Carroll County and have extensive experience with the Judicial system in Carroll County, experience that out of county lawyers and law firms cannot duplicate.

In the area of Family Law, we represent parents and separating or divorcing persons. Our services include handling all claims for divorce, alimony, child custody, child access, child support, division of marital property, and negotiating and preparing marital settlement agreements, parenting agreements, and pre-nuptial agreements.

In addition to practicing as a trial attorney, Paul A. Capriolo is also an experienced  Family Law Mediator and assists people in avoiding expensive and extended litigation through the mediation process.  Paul currently conducts over 150 family law mediations per year, with most reaching an amicable resolution. Mediation can help resolve issues concerning children, as well as financial and property issues.  In addition to conducting private mediations, Paul has been appointed by the Circuit Court for Carroll County to serve as a Family Law Mediator and Settlement Officer to assist  litigants with the successful and amicable resolution of  their divorce and family law cases. In divorce cases and other family law matters, the parties, through mediation, can almost always come up with a better resolution than will result from litigation. Mediation is a wonderful way of coming to an amicable resolution of important issues, rather than having a judge or hearing master dictate a resolution to you.

Beware of those who claim to be mediators.  Many attorneys claim in their advertising or in their firm name that they provide Mediation services.  Anyone can claim to be a mediator but only those with special training in the area of Family Law mediation can be appointed by the Circuit Court to serve as a Court Appointed Mediator.  Also, only those with proper training and continuing education in Mediation can belong to the Maryland Program for Mediator Excellence (MPME).  Paul is a member of this association which assists him in providing high quality services to our clients.

In the area of Criminal Defense Law, we represent those accused of various criminal offenses including DUI/DWI, assault, battery, burglary, robbery, theft, CDS possession and distribution, shoplifting, forgery, arson, harassment and all other felonies and misdemeanors.

In the Estate Planning area of law, we work with client's in preparing their estate plan, including the preparation of the Last Will and Testament, Financial Power of Attorney, Advanced Directive for Health Care, and the Living Will. In discussing these important documents, we will assist you in the decsion making process, and in naming those responsible to assist you when needed.  We also are experienced in the Adminstration of Estates, helping families after the loss of a loved one see to it that the estae plan is carried out, and that the deceased's assets are distributed according to their estate plan.
